It is always good when clients share their experience of training, especially when it is positive. Everybody’s training journey is different, but it gives me enormous satisfaction when someone has been successful.
Sometimes clients have multiple goals which can throw up contrasting challenges in terms of preparation and planning.
When Phil first came to see me, he already had the target of competing in white-collar boxing matches. He wanted to be fitter, stronger and lighter. As fitness goals go that was a tough enough challenge but to attempt to combine this with a busy career and significant work travel while maintaining a long-distance relationship was a daunting task.
I’ll let Phil describe things in his own words,
“I have been working with John for the best part of 5 years. I initially started training with him to lose weight and get toned but he´s helped me with so many things, improving my overall fitness & stamina, coaching me for white collar boxing matches as well has helping me recover from a shoulder injury.
I first met John after attending his lunchtime boxing classes and having got to know him a little, thought he would be a great fit for a Personal Trainer. He´s very friendly, patient and extremely knowledgeable across many sporting disciplines. It was a great decision as John has been a fantastic trainer and has become a good friend too.
With John’s advice and training regime, I lost over 25kgs in weight. During the pandemic, John would meet me outdoors to help me continue to train. When I haven’t been able to visit the gym, he has sent me home workouts to do and when I moved abroad, he stayed in touch and sent me various training sessions to help me keep on top of my fitness.
Besides helping me lose weight, John was instrumental in helping me train for various white-collar boxing fights. He would work up an 8-to-10-week training plan building up my strength and stamina to be in peak performance come fight night. Beyond fitness and stamina, John would take me for pad works outs to perfect punching combinations and get my footwork up to scratch.
For the last fight I can honestly say that I was in the best shape of my life at 39 years old. Not only that, but John also went the extra mile to make sure he was in my corner for the fight to help keep me calm and focused.”
When a client shows commitment and dedication to their work, they are often surprised by what they end up achieving. Here’s to you Phil on a job well-done.
