What now for online fitness training?

If you’d told me two years ago that I would be delivering personal training sessions from my living room I would have thought you were crazy. The idea I might develop a course on how to deliver online training would have seemed ridiculous but the world is a strange place now.

I was really pleased to be asked on to the Matt Marney Fitness Show (follow the link to listen) to talk about the impact of online coaching over the last couple of years. We chatted about our respective experiences of online training, some of the frustrations and challenges as well as some of the more surprising benefits.

As fitness coaches and personal trainers we had to adapt quickly to the demands of coaching movement online. Two years after the start of the pandemic what conclusions can we draw about the impact of online training? What has been good? What has been bad? How can we evaluate and develop the skills that a personal trainer or coach needs to be successful online?

What are you thoughts about online training? Are you rushing back to the gym this January for a tender reunion with the bench press or will you be keeping your appointment online?

The idea I might develop a course on how to deliver online training would have seemed ridiculous but the world is a strange place now.

To what extent trainers will continue to offer coaching  online will be dependent on changing circumstances and the needs of clients but it looks like it is here to stay.
